Dearest Alice,
I am here at the bottom of the mountains. It is a glorious sight, some of the peaks are covered with snow. The trees are shedding their leaves. Winter is headed this way. Helen came for me on Nov 1, and brought me.
Kathie was chosen as Miss Utah. She is busy filling engagements. Last night she went to Park City and gave a speech. Fritz + Helen went with her. She is going to the U. She has already received money and several gifts. She is really a beautiful girl and is so kind and thoughtful of her grandmother which makes me very happy.
I should not leave home for poor dear Marilee misses me. She cried so hard when I left. We manage at home. She stays with me at night. Helps get supper + breakfast. Wm checks on me in the day. Blondie is always ready to help me.
I feel I can get along all right when I go home.
When you write me let me know what each of the children are doing. So pleased Kristine is in Berkeley. Have always heard it is a fine school. I visited it once. Kathie expects to teach. Florence is an artist. She wants to go into that field. The boys aren’t concerned about the future, just bread + butter and peace now interests them. I may go home.
