Dearest Johnette,
Just a little artistic nature as you can see. Today was pay day. I received 2 $20 green backs and $1 green back and some small change. I now have over $100 in my purse. I only lack the chance to come home. I sure get tired of the way things are going here. I never spend much of the Army and in some respects they sure are lot of rules.
I enjoy your letters and hope you girls will write more often.
I received a nice letter from Eva. Elsie has clean old soul. I thought she was going to write but I only got one before first. We have had a lot of rain here the last little greet frosty that any where. Maybe this sounds like our little creeks at home. We will have spring at home and I half hope I will be home by spring. I sure long for the cattle and horses. You know I have never even touched a horse since I left home. I wish I could get where I could see and ride a horse once in a while. There are some good cattle ranches in some parts of Oregon but not around here.
I sent Marian a letter but I haven’t had an answer as of yet. Your letter was post marked at S.L. of March 8 and I got it fast, only the 11. Some of them take longer from home and from Provo. It takes about from 10 to 12 or 13 days for a round trip answer. Gerda is always prompt to answer all my letters. I always get one from her and one from home each week. I suppose all you girls will read this letter so you all can write me one some time.
Tell John I am getting along all right but could do more good producing food here. I am just another soldier to eat up food. I would be a good man to produce food. I am rather disappointed in my army training but am getting along.
School will soon be over and I suppose you will be glad to go home. I hope I get a letter from home tomorrow morning. I don’t see why we should have to wait all night.
Well you can let Alice and Kathleen read this and tell them to write once in a while. It sure is too bad about Uncle Allen. I hope he soon gets well. How is Blanche Allen getting along? I haven’t seen her for a long time.
Well tell them all to write soon.
With love,
William
