My dear Alice,
Thank you for the lovely letter.
I live from one day to the next to get a letter from my loved ones. I see all the members of your family are very busy. I am very happy to get so pleasant a report of your family’s activities.
I note your weather over there has been dark and gloomy. A little rain and the wind sad and weary. The dear little birds are seeking rest in our tall poplar trees. They have builded their nests.
The bottle story is very interesting. When you come we will visit our friends to see if they have old bottles. I will be so happy to visit with Kristine and discuss teaching etc.
Do you think you can come sometime? I miss Rayanna. She is always thoughtful of my welfare so I am always thankful when she comes.
I miss my sweetheart, but I have the assurance that we will be together again when I have crossed the bar. I am very lonely. The neighbors check. William checks every day. Helen will come for me when I give her the word.
It has been pleasant to have this letter writen.
Stay well. Be happy.
I love you
Mother
